  • Please Welcome the Next Principal of Delone Catholic

    The Diocese of Harrisburg and the Delone Catholic High School Board are pleased to announce the appointment of Richard V. LaRocca as the school's new Principal effective July 1.  Mr. LaRocca has over 30 years of experience in education.
     
    "Praised be Jesus Christ!  What a blessing to learn this Easter season that I have been chosen as the next principal of Delone Catholic High School," commented Mr. LaRocca who continued, 
    "I am looking forward to getting to know and work with the families, staff and extended DCHS community as we collaborate in educating the next generation of 'Doers of the Word.'  I humbly request their prayers for God to provide me with the wisdom to be an effective leader on all levels.  Go, Squires!"
     
    Mr. LaRocca currently serves as the Assistant Principal at Poolesville High School with Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland.  He will succeed Dr. Maureen Thiec who has served as Principal for the past 25 years and will be retiring at the end of this school year.
     
    Father Edward J. Quinlan, the Secretary for Education of the Diocese of Harrisburg formally appointed Mr. LaRocca to the position. The Board of Directors of Delone Catholic High School recommended him for appointment following interviews conducted at the diocese and by the local search committee for the Board.
     
    "I am excited that Mr. LaRocca will be joining the Delone Catholic family. Working with our parents, faculty, students and all our stakeholders, I feel confident he will lead our school to continued success in the future," stated Douglas A. Little, PhD, President of the Delone Catholic Board of Directors and Class of '81 alumnus.  He added, "With his extensive experience and ability to easily connect with others, he is well qualified to continue and expand on Delone Catholic's great traditions in ensuring the outstanding preparation of our students for their future endeavors."
     
    Mr. LaRocca began his teaching career at Monroe Catholic High School in Fairbanks, Alaska, served as Instructor at The Catholic University, University of Maryland and Hood College, and since 1985 has been with Montgomery County Schools teaching languages and later in school administration. 
     
    Mr. LaRocca holds a BA in History and Spanish from Cornell University, STB in Theology from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Rome), MA in Spanish from The Catholic University of America, and an STL in Theology from the University of Navarre (Spain).  He also holds Teaching and Administrative Certification from the State of Maryland.
     
    Mr. LaRocca and his wife of 31 years have five children and are the proud grandparents of four grandchildren.

  • Sophomore Class Fundraiser - Chick-fil-A!

    The Sophomore Class Chick-fil-A fundraiser is underway.  If anyone is interested in purchasing a meal package please see any member of the sophomore between now and May 12. Meal vouchers will be delivered by May 19 and must be redeemed during the week of May 22. Kids' Meal digital offer cards do not not expire until Dec. 31, 2017. 

    Reminder to sophomores:  your goal is to sell seven boxed meal plans or contribute $20.  Anyone who does not participate may be subject to higher prices to attend Junior and Senior prom.  The fundraiser will run through Friday, May 12.  All orders and monies should be turned into Mr. Staub in room 17.

  • Carnival Tickets Now On Sale

    The Delone Catholic Music Association Carnival is scheduled for June 12-17, 2017. Once again this year, both a “Ride-All-Night” bracelet (valid on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights) and reduced price ride tickets (valid on any night of the carnival) are available for pre-order online. Orders can be picked up in the lobby of the Lawrence B. (Sonny) Sheppard, Jr. Memorial Gymnasium on any night of the carnival between 6-9:30 p.m.
     
    If you would prefer to pay by cash or check, please use the mail-in order form and return with payment by Friday, June 9, according to the directions on the form.

  • Friday's Freshman Retreat - Important!

    The Class of 2020 will attend their "Body of Christ" themed retreat on Friday, May 5 at the Challenge Course at Ski Roundtop. The weather forecast is calling for rain in the morning, so please be sure that the students are dressed appropriately for the weather (ponchos, boots, etc.). Any changes to the day will be announced closer to the date. Please refer to the information that was sent home previously and included in Squire Wire for additional information.   • Job Opportunity - Technology Coordinator - Applications Still Being Accepted

    The position of Technology Coordinator requires a person who is both technically trained and able to adjust to new situations and technologies. The Technology Coordinator should have an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related program with 5-7 years of experience. Individuals with other majors, but appropriate background experience may also be considered.

    The primary skills required are a good working knowledge of the following: Microsoft Server 2012, Active Directory, Group Policy settings (MCSA or better is preferred), Microsoft Server 2008 R2, Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows 10, VMware, Microsoft Office 2010 and 2016, wireless networking, troubleshooting and repair of intel based computers and Chromebooks, MMS Generations, GoGuardian, Cisco SG-200 and SG 300 switchgear, Google Apps for Education (especially the Administrative Console). 

    Applicants should have or be able to prove the equivalent of a Comp TIA A+ and Network+ certification, and should possess a basic understanding of fiber optic cable and networking using fiber optics.  Prior use of Lightspeed content filter and Sophos Anti-Virus is a plus.

    Other valuable skills include interpersonal, writing, project management, budget, and the ability to work independently and take on new assignments. The Technology Coordinator must be able to use hand tools, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.

    All Delone Catholic employees must be able to pass and maintain clearances as required by the Diocese of Harrisburg. The Technology Coordinator must also abide with and communicate Diocesan Policies concerning technology.

    The position is currently part-time with the possibility of becoming full-time. Hours are flexible but primarily during the school day of 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Tech Ed Teacher

Director of Enrollment and Marketing

The Director of Enrollment and Marketing is responsible for managing all aspects of the student enrollment and marketing process. The position is also responsible for the development and management of marketing plans and materials for Delone Catholic High School working in conjunction with those faculty and staff members within designated target areas. The successful candidate in this role will coordinate internal stakeholders, including students, administration, faculty, staff, parents, alumni and board members, to assist in the marketing process.

 Responsibilities include:

  • Increase enrollment to meet annual targets established by the Board of Directors by identifying and moving prospective families through the enrollment funnel utilizing direct marketing, public relations, and personalized attention

  • Manage all aspects of enrollment including Open House events, family tours and student shadow days

  • Act as primary contact for families, feeder schools, and Maryland partners

  • Work closely with the Board and Administration on long-term vision and strategic goals for enrollment

  • Solicit feedback from current families as well as those choosing to transfer out of Delone

  • Coordinate efforts to retain current students and families

  • Coordinate media impressions through the school’s website, social media, press releases and other advertising.

  • Develop and post web content including alerts, articles, videos and photos

  • Responsible for media buying and staying informed of new marketing trends and patterns

  • Coordinate the school’s presence at community events for both community awareness and enrollment endeavors

  • Define and enforce branding guidelines to ensure consistent messaging about DCHS

  • Implement, evaluate and create strategic marketing objectives

  • Manage the Student Ambassador and Parent Ambassador programs to assist with enrollment efforts

  • Educate and train administration and board members to participate in the enrollment process

  • Engage and involve current families and alumni in enrollment efforts

 A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field is required. A minimum of four years’ relevant experience is desired. Candidate must demonstrate solid knowledge of marketing principles, developing and executing strategies, and project management. Strong communication skills, including business writing, verbal, and presentation skills, are required. Proven collaboration, interpersonal and relationship management skills are necessary. Knowledge of Adobe programs or graphic design capabilities, or the ability to learn independently, is necessary. Qualities required for success include a proactive approach, customer service orientation, cooperative and collaborative mindset, flexibility, attention to detail, comfort with public speaking and representing the school, and the ability to plan and prioritize effectively.
