    Calling All Band Alumni!

    All alumni of the Delone Catholic High School Band (marching or concert, any graduation year) are cordially invited to play in the bleachers with the current Marching Band at the upcoming homecoming game on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017. Mr. Yealy can supply some drums, but most alumni will need to bring their own instruments. Color Guard alumni and former instrumentalists who do not have access to an instrument are also invited to join us in the bleachers. All participants are asked to register online by Wednesday Sept. 27. Playing participants are kindly asked to make a one-time $5 donation at the game to help the band purchase additional copies of the iconic "yellow books" for alumni to use.  If possible, participants should plan to meet in the bleachers around 6 p.m. on Oct. 13.     We are proud to share these impressive numbers from our 2017 graduating class.
    - 95% of our 2017 graduates continued to higher education
    - $8,599,000 of scholarship money was offered to our 2017 graduating class.
    - 66% of students pursuing higher education were offered scholarship money.
    - 15,372 hours of community service.
    -  62.5% of this class graduated with a 3.0 GPA or higher.

  • Inclement Weather Reminders

    For delays and closures: Delone Catholic parents are notified via One-Call of school delays and closures. The information, along with early dismissal information, is posted on the website, Facebook, and Twitter as soon as possible. You may also call the school at 717-637-5969 and the recording will notify you of a delay or closure. WGAL is notified immediately upon the decision to delay or close. In addition to T.V., closures and delays are posted on http://www.wgal.com/weather/closings

    For early dismissals: Phone calls from parents will not be accepted for dismissal requests. The phone lines are needed to receive information from the school districts. We also encourage students to call parents from the office to inform them of the different drop off schedule for bus transportation so that an adult may be available for the transport from the bus stop to home.

    Please be alert to those weather forecasts for incoming snow possibilities. If you wish your student to be dismissed at a different time, you must send in a note with your student for each dismissal. No emails and no phone calls will be accepted. Notes must be turned in before homeroom, on the day they are to be applied. You may not submit one note for the duration of the school year. A note must be delivered on each separate occasion.

    For your information, an update to eChalk made this past weekend allows for calendar subscriptions.  If you use your phone's calendar or if you use a calendar service like Google Calendar, use the new subscribe link on eChalk calendars to access the iCal address that can be added to your calendar service.  Remember to set the calendar to sync on your mobile device.

    You might consider subscribing to: the Delone Catholic High School calendar, the Spiritual Life Calendar, the Guidance Calendar, the Athletics Calendar, the Music Calendar, the Athletic or Music Association calendars, or the calendars for any of your classes or groups.

  • Office of Development and Alumni Relations Seeks Volunteer Coordinator

    The Office of Development and Alumni Relations seeks a volunteer with good organizational and communication skills to serve as a Volunteer Coordinator. This position will match interested volunteers with volunteer tasks/positions as needed for the operation and advancement of the school. The Volunteer Coordinator would assist in the volunteers’ preparation for each task/position, collect and communicate feedback from volunteers about their experience, and assist in demonstrating our appreciation for our volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator must have or be willing to get all clearances and training required by the Diocese of Harrisburg and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for adults who work with minors.     Roots for Boots is looking for volunteers for the following activities:

    - Writing thank you notes for Operation Out the Door

    - Making posters and cards to display at the York Veterans Outreach Breakfast

    - Helping with Military Moments on Oct. 21 at Guthrie Memorial Library. Volunteers will be helping with face painting, a card making table, lollipop tree, grab bags, etc.

    The Hanover YMCA Future Stars Basketball program is looking for volunteers to assist in running our youth basketball programs. The main area of need is working the score clocks during the youth basketball games on Saturdays at both the Hanover and Littlestown YMCA. There are some other areas as well.     Penn Township operates a recycling drop-off center at 1020 Wilson Ave. in Hanover. This is where residents can deliver their newspapers, junk mail, magazines, cardboard, plastic shopping bags, eye glasses, hearing aids, clothing, and electronics to be recycled. The Township accepts volunteers who enjoy giving back to the community. The responsibility of volunteers is to assist the Township residents with the unloading of recyclables from their vehicles and keeping the trailers and drop-off area clean and organized. The center is open from 8 a.m. until 4:15 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturdays. If anyone has any questions about the program or would like to volunteer, please call Penn Township Recycling at 717-637-1561.
