  • Help Wanted: Long-Term Substitute Math Teacher

    Delone Catholic High School is seeking a year long substitute math teacher for the 2017-18 school year. 
    Candidates are expected to be "Doers of the Word;" rooted in, upholding, supporting, and demonstrating the values of the Gospel, the Catholic Church and Delone Catholic High School; and inspiring students to do the same.
    Qualified candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education with an active Level 1 teaching certificate, clearances, and Pastor’s Recommendation. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with student, staff, parents and the community. Candidates must be in compliance with PA State clearance requirements.

  • Delone Catholic Names Interim Vice Principal

    Delone Catholic High School has announced Mrs. Donna Tompkins the Interim Vice Principal for the 2017-18 school year. 
    Mrs. Tompkins will be stepping down from her current position in the Math Department to assume this role for the school year. 
    A year-long substitute position is now available in the Math Department for the 2017-18 school year. Interested candidates should send their cover letter and resume to Mrs. Tompkins as soon as possible.

  • Please Welcome the Next Principal of Delone Catholic

    The Diocese of Harrisburg and the Delone Catholic High School Board are pleased to announce the appointment of Richard V. LaRocca as the school's new Principal effective July 1.  Mr. LaRocca has over 30 years of experience in education.
    "Praised be Jesus Christ!  What a blessing to learn this Easter season that I have been chosen as the next principal of Delone Catholic High School," commented Mr. LaRocca who continued, 
    "I am looking forward to getting to know and work with the families, staff and extended DCHS community as we collaborate in educating the next generation of 'Doers of the Word.'  I humbly request their prayers for God to provide me with the wisdom to be an effective leader on all levels.  Go, Squires!"
    Mr. LaRocca currently serves as the Assistant Principal at Poolesville High School with Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland.  He will succeed Dr. Maureen Thiec who has served as Principal for the past 25 years and will be retiring at the end of this school year.
    Father Edward J. Quinlan, the Secretary for Education of the Diocese of Harrisburg formally appointed Mr. LaRocca to the position. The Board of Directors of Delone Catholic High School recommended him for appointment following interviews conducted at the diocese and by the local search committee for the Board.
    "I am excited that Mr. LaRocca will be joining the Delone Catholic family. Working with our parents, faculty, students and all our stakeholders, I feel confident he will lead our school to continued success in the future," stated Douglas A. Little, PhD, President of the Delone Catholic Board of Directors and Class of '81 alumnus.  He added, "With his extensive experience and ability to easily connect with others, he is well qualified to continue and expand on Delone Catholic's great traditions in ensuring the outstanding preparation of our students for their future endeavors."
    Mr. LaRocca began his teaching career at Monroe Catholic High School in Fairbanks, Alaska, served as Instructor at The Catholic University, University of Maryland and Hood College, and since 1985 has been with Montgomery County Schools teaching languages and later in school administration. 
    Mr. LaRocca holds a BA in History and Spanish from Cornell University, STB in Theology from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Rome), MA in Spanish from The Catholic University of America, and an STL in Theology from the University of Navarre (Spain).  He also holds Teaching and Administrative Certification from the State of Maryland.
    Mr. LaRocca and his wife of 31 years have five children and are the proud grandparents of four grandchildren.

  • Sophomore Class Fundraiser - Chick-fil-A!

    The Sophomore Class Chick-fil-A fundraiser is underway.  If anyone is interested in purchasing a meal package please see any member of the sophomore between now and May 12. Meal vouchers will be delivered by May 19 and must be redeemed during the week of May 22. Kids' Meal digital offer cards do not not expire until Dec. 31, 2017. 

    Reminder to sophomores:  your goal is to sell seven boxed meal plans or contribute $20.  Anyone who does not participate may be subject to higher prices to attend Junior and Senior prom.  The fundraiser will run through Friday, May 12.  All orders and monies should be turned into Mr. Staub in room 17.

Student Life at Delone Catholic

Student activities outside the classroom help the school to fulfill its mission to "challenge students spiritually, academically, physically, socially and aesthetically within the traditions and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church." While many student activities are offered outside of the school day, Delone Catholic also offers bimonthly activities periods during the school day, so that students for whom transportation is an issue can participate in the extracurricular life of the school.

    Football players and parents meet in the cafeteria at 6 pm.  All other fall sport athletes and parents please meet in the cafeteria at 6:45 pm.

  • Summer Lesson Challenge Begins

    Every Sunday, over the course of the next 10 weeks, a new practice challenge will be posted.  Using your lesson book, the internet or any other music book, find a piece of music that meets the requirement.  Practice the piece.  Download the chart on the website to keep track of your selections.  Bring the completed chart, along with all of your pieces, to your first lesson at the start of the school year.  After playing the pieces, you will be eligible for a prize.

  • ImPACT Test for 2017-18

    Mrs. Sherdel, our Athletic Trainer, is going to have the athletes complete the ImPACT Test (baseline for concussion) at home this year (2017-18 school year).  Any athlete who will be in seventh, ninth or eleventh grade and any first year athlete is required to complete the test.  The test is required and must be completed before you are allowed to practice.   If you have any questions or concerns you can reach Jenn Sherdel at

  • Adopt - a - Highway and Earth Day Projects

    The club will sponsor and Adopt-a-Highway and Earth Day project on April 22, 2017.

    Adopt-a-Highway will be from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The group will meet in the student parking lot.

    There will be a one hour break for chaperones and/or students who are participating in both events.  Students who stay for both will be on their own to get lunch within walking distance of Delone Catholic.

    Earth Day will be from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. The group will gather on Delone Avenue near the gym lobby entrance.
