Strategic Planning Domains

Academics and Technology

This domain is responsible for the strategic integration of academics and technology to enhance teaching and learning. It defines the core curriculum, outlining the knowledge, skills, and values that students will learn.

Additionally, it guides the development and implementation of technology infrastructure and resources that support pedagogical goals. This domain also oversees professional development initiatives, ensuring that faculty and staff have the necessary expertise to effectively utilize technology in delivering the curriculum and fostering student success.

Advancement

This domain is responsible for the strategic cultivation and management of philanthropic resources to ensure the school's long-term financial viability and support its mission. It encompasses all aspects of institutional advancement, including:

  • Fundraising and Development | Comprehensive fundraising efforts, such as the annual fund, major gifts, capital campaigns, and planned giving, along with prospect research and donor stewardship.
  • Constituent and Alumni Relations | Building and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders, including alumni, donors, parents, and community members.
  • Marketing and Communications | Developing and implementing a cohesive brand strategy and consistent internal and external communications to promote the school's mission and accomplishments.
  • Operations and Staffing | Managing the operational procedures, systems, and staffing that support all advancement activities.
  • Volunteer Management | Engaging and empowering volunteers to serve as ambassadors and partners in fundraising and outreach initiatives.
Catholic Identity

This domain is responsible for the strategic integration of the school's Catholic mission and tradition into all aspects of community life. It focuses on the current and future expression of the school's Catholic Identity, ensuring the Gospel message is brought to life and each member of the school community is supported in their faith journey.

The domain oversees the school's charism and culture, encompassing:

  • Worship and Spiritual Life | Liturgies, prayer, and retreats that foster a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Religious Education and Formation | The curriculum and resources for religious instruction.
  • Christian Service | Opportunities for students to live out their faith through service to others.
  • Inclusivity and Support | Creating an environment where both Catholic and non-Catholic students are welcomed and supported in their spiritual development.
  • Staffing and Resources | Ensuring appropriate staffing and resources are allocated to support the school's Catholic mission.
Enrollment and Marketing

This domain is responsible for the strategic management of the school's enrollment and marketing to ensure a sustainable and optimal student body. It focuses on developing and executing strategies that align enrollment with the school's overall strategic plan, mission, and physical and programmatic capacity.

The domain encompasses all aspects of the enrollment lifecycle, including:

  • Recruitment | Proactively attracting, engaging, and enrolling mission-appropriate students.
  • Retention | Cultivating a strong sense of community and providing a high-quality student experience to ensure students remain at the school.
  • Marketing and Communications | Promoting the school's unique value proposition and brand identity to prospective families, current families, and the wider community.
  • Enrollment Management | Analyzing data to inform decisions, forecast enrollment trends, and manage financial aid to support enrollment goals.
Facilities and Technology

This domain is responsible for the strategic management of the school's physical and technological infrastructure to support its mission and tradition. It ensures that the campus and its systems are safe, functional, and aligned with current and future needs. The focus includes:

  • Facilities Management | Assessing current facilities, planning for regular and deferred maintenance, and addressing capital needs.
  • Safety and Security | Developing and implementing comprehensive plans to ensure a secure environment for all community members.
  • Environmental Stewardship | Considering the environmental impact of campus operations and pursuing sustainable practices.
  • Technology Infrastructure | Ensuring a robust, cost-effective, and secure technological environment, including network speed, data protection, privacy, and cybersecurity.
  • Staffing | Ensuring adequate staffing to effectively maintain and manage all campus facilities and technology systems.
Finance

This domain is responsible for the strategic oversight and management of the school's financial assets and resources, ensuring the institution's long-term sustainability and viability in alignment with its mission and tradition. The focus is on robust financial health and sound stewardship.

Key areas include:

  • Financial Planning and Management | Developing and overseeing the operational budget, managing cash flow, and planning for future capital needs and expenditures.
  • Revenue Generation | Strategically managing and optimizing all revenue streams, including tuition, tuition assistance, and other financial resources.
  • Asset Management | Providing careful oversight of the school's endowment and other assets to ensure their growth and protection.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance | Establishing and maintaining strong internal controls and procedures to safeguard institutional assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Cross-Domain Collaboration | Collaborating with all other strategic planning domains to inform and support their initiatives, ensuring a holistic approach to the school's financial and operational health.
Governance

This domain is responsible for the strategic oversight and continuous improvement of the school's governance structure to ensure it effectively supports the mission and long-term sustainability of the institution. It focuses on the clear definition of roles, responsibilities, and collaborative processes among the three key components of governance: school ownership, the Board, and the Administration.

The domain addresses:

  • Role Clarity | Defining the distinct duties and spheres of influence for each governance component.
  • Effective Communication | Establishing clear and consistent channels of communication to ensure alignment and trust among all parties.
  • Resource Management | Assessing how the governance structure influences the allocation and use of resources to support the school’s operations and strategic plan.
  • Operational Harmony | Ensuring the three components function together in a cohesive and complementary manner to advance the school's mission.
Student Life

This domain is responsible for the strategic development and oversight of the entire student experience outside of the classroom. It focuses on fostering a high-quality environment that supports the holistic growth of each student—spiritually, morally, emotionally, physically, and socially.

This domain's key areas of focus include:

  • Student Formation | Creating an inclusive and positive school culture that promotes social development, character formation, and a sense of belonging for all students.
  • Co-Curricular Activities | Offering a diverse range of enriching co-curricular programs—such as athletics, the arts, STEM, leadership, and service clubs—that align with student interests and support their personal growth.
  • Policies and Procedures | Establishing and communicating clear, consistent policies and procedures related to student behavior, discipline, and well-being to ensure a safe and supportive learning community.
