Maitland first came to Delone Catholic in 2011, when he was hired as the first girls' soccer coach. During his tenure as coach, the program has grown in its success and contributed to the broader community. With the assistance of his players, Maitland sponsors a youth soccer camp for aspiring soccer players in our area each summer and schedules team volunteer opportunities.

During the 2015-16 school year, Delone Catholic found itself with a vacancy in the English department midyear. With his degree and love of English, Maitland accepted the position and has flourished in this role. He currently teaches English for juniors and seniors, which includes the Advanced Placement classes for seniors.

"His creativity in his instruction inspires his students, who respond with active engagement in class," says Principal William Lippe of Maitland. "He listens to his students and strives to expand their opportunities, even creating two new classes on How to Read Film."

Maitland is also held in high regard by his peers. He was elected the first Dean of Faculty at Delone Catholic serving as representative for the entire faculty in administrative meetings.

Maitland and his wife, Mary Ann, also own the Readers' Cafe, a local business in downtown Hanover. The establishment offers a variety of books for patrons, as well as a delicious menu for those who would like to enjoy lunch.
