Dear Cherished Alumni and Friends of Delone Catholic High School,
Happy New Year!
Delone Catholic High School accomplished so much in 2022, including District 3 championships for our girls' basketball, baseball, and golf teams, renovations in the cafeteria and the Sheppard Gym, and English teacher Derf Maitland being named Educator of the Year by the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce! We are so excited to hit the ground running with many more improvements and achievements coming in 2023. As always, check your inbox for monthly communication to stay up-to-date on all things Squire Nation. We ask for your prayers and continue to pray for our entire Delone Catholic Family for a healthy and happy 2023.

Sincerely,
The Office of Advancement

Tax Credit Programs for School Funding Topic of Town Hall Meeting

On Wednesday, Jan. 11, Delone Catholic held a virtual School Town Hall meeting for current families to discuss the anticipated changes in the school funding model. After a short presentation by Principal William Lippe and Director of Enrollment and Outreach Matthew Thomas, our partners at RedefinED Advisors educated families about how the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program can help bridge the gap between the stated cost of tuition and the full cost of educating each student. View the slides from Delone Catholic's part of the presentation and read about the EITC/SPE program to learn more.
#SquireStrong has always meant that each and every member of our school community plays a part in the mission of Catholic education. And as expected, our school family is already pledging their participation in the EITC/SPE program for this year - $48,350 in pledges and counting.

We hope that you, too, will consider making a contribution through the tax credit program if you pay Pennsylvania state income tax. Joinder agreements can be found on the school's website. Please complete the appropriate form and send it to the Main Office, ATTN: Eric Lawrence or email it to [email protected]. Act now, as there is a participation limit for these tax credits programs!

We also ask that you think about businesses or individuals you know who might also be interested in directing tax dollars in support of Delone Catholic students. Please use this referral form so that we can be in contact with them.

Our solidarity can help us to achieve the goal of an affordable Delone Catholic education for every family that chooses it for their children!

If you have questions, please feel free to contact our partners at RedefinED Advisors at [email protected] or 814-419-5505.

Speech and Debate students with trophies

The Return of Speech & Debate

Delone Catholic High School is proud to announce the resurgence of our Speech and Debate Team, competing in tournaments once again in person. The COVID-19 pandemic called for most tournaments to be online, and now that in-person competing has started back up, the DCHS Speech and Debate team has seen a spike in interest and has been quite busy. In January alone, the team is scheduled to compete in events four weekends in a row. Read More

Host Families Needed

Delone Catholic is searching for families who would be interested in hosting an international student for next school year (2023-24). However, there is an immediate need for two families to host female students from Spain for the 2023-24 school year. A small monthly stipend will assist in supporting this young lady. If your family likes to take short trips, share their home experience, and welcome someone from another country to your home, please contact Dr. Barb Wert at [email protected] for more information.

Remembering Our Beloved Faculty and Staff

Connie K. Schlack

Mrs. Connie K. Schlak

Delone Catholic High School mournfully shares the news of the passing of Mrs. Connie K. Schlak, a former member of the Delone Catholic faculty and a member of the Delone Catholic Hall of Honor Class of 2022. She was also the mother of two Delone Catholic alumni.

During her career, which spanned from 1982-2002, Mrs. Schlak taught Spanish and served as the chair of the Foreign Language Department. She also taught English, Latin, religion, and electronics at various times throughout her tenure. She was a demanding teacher, but one whom students loved, and she prepared them well for life after high school.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
