The E-Squire (Feb. 2023)

Volume 1, Issue 4  - February 2023

Dear Cherished Alumni and Friends of Delone Catholic High School,

It has been a fantastic start to February, and we cannot believe it is almost March! This month, we have been busy preparing for a number of events taking place throughout the spring and into the summer. Alumni and friends, as well as current parents, are invited to Coffee and Donuts with the Principal on March 1. The cast of Romeo and Juliet is rehearsing to take the stage the weekend of March 10-12. Also on the horizon are the Ladies' Spring Tea on April 28, the Henny Noel Memorial Golf Tournament on June 10, and Alumni and Friends Night at the Ballpark with the York Revolution on June 17. Please remember to keep an eye on your inbox and Delone Catholic social media to stay up to date on all things DCHS! You can also text SQUIRE or ALUMNI to 844-647-3624 to receive news, events and occasional fundraisers by text.

Sincerely,

The Office of Advancement

DCHS Students Learn Hands-On Skills at ACTI

At Delone Catholic High School, students are encouraged to nurture any vocation to which they are called. Delone Catholic has partnered with the Adams County Technical Institute (ACTI) to provide vocational training to our students interested in hands-on experience in their field of interest. The courses at ACTI prepare students to go directly into the workforce or get a head start on post-secondary education. Students spend half their day in class at Delone Catholic and the other half at ACTI. This year, Delone Catholic has six students taking part in computer networking, EMT training, criminal justice, and early childhood education. Delone Catholic students agree that this program has improved their confidence and skills inside and outside of the classroom. Ms. Stephanie Leader, Director of Advancement Services, sat down with these students to discuss what they have been learning and how these programs are preparing each of them for life. Read More

Team Effort Improves Baseball Field

“There’s not too many things that will get me out of bed early on a cold, windy Saturday morning, but being a part of a project that will forever change the baseball program is one of them. Being able to be a part of something so big for our school, like our district championship last year, was so exciting for my teammates and I. This upgrade will be around for the next generation of baseball players at Delone Catholic,” says catcher Brodie Collins ‘23.

The reigning PIAA District 3 2A Baseball Delone Catholic Squires required an upgrade to the antiquated backstop. While the existing fence and net held up for many years, it was time to make some changes for the safety of both the players and the fans. Read More

Presenters Needed for Career Day

The Guidance Department, along with the Advancement team, has been hard at work preparing for Delone Catholic's 2023 Career Day. Traditionally held every other year, Career Day, is making its return after being canceled in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. On the afternoon of March 29, students will participate in two presentations on pre-selected career fields. Many alumni and friends of Delone Catholic have already stepped up to teach students about their fields, but we are still looking for presenters in the following careers:

Child Care | Civil Engineering | Law Enforcement

If you would be interested in giving a Career Day presentation in one of these fields, or have a lead that we should pursue, please contact Mrs. Lori Heberling at [email protected] as soon as possible. Thank you for your consideration!

Delone Catholic Presents "Romeo and Juliet"
