Delone Catholic High School music directors, Brian and Lynn Yealy, will host the school’s first-ever “Day of Music Celebration” on Tuesday, March 28, from 9:30-2 p.m. in the Delone Auditorium. Student members of Delone Catholic’s Tri-M Music Honor Society will assist in organizing the festivities.
Instrumental and vocal music students from Delone Catholic High School, McSherrystown; St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School, McSherrystown; St. Joseph Catholic School, Hanover; St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, Gettysburg; and Mother Seton Catholic School, Emmitsburg, Md. will join together to perform for one another, support one another, and celebrate the joy of music. The grand finale of the morning performance will be all the elementary and high school musicians joining together for a powerful rendition of “America the Beautiful.”
Guest directors include Roxanne Ohl of St. Teresa, Beth Pugliese of St. Joseph, Kelli Eisenberg of St. Francis, and Cheryl Carney and Trey Pope of Mother Seton. Student musicians from The Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College will also visit Delone Catholic to perform for the elementary and high school students, including Anderson Gray, soprano; Gabe Sanderson, pianist; and the Gettysburg College Brass Quintet directed by Dr. Steven Marx.
The Day of Music will mark the culmination of Delone Catholic High School’s celebration of March as national Music In Our Schools Month, so designated by the National Association for Music Education.
