​A while ago, another thing worth leaning into happened at Delone Catholic. There once were two first-year students, Angie and Jarrod. Through a stroke of blessing, they were both scheduled for the same speech class. After each had excellently delivered an informative and impromptu speech and an oral interpretation, they were asked to prepare a persuasive speech using all the ethos, pathos, and logos they could muster. While the contents of Angie’s speech cannot be readily recalled, Jarrod’s went down in history in initiating a celebrated marriage of longevity and three outstanding children. All it took was a “Yes” from Angie. Jarrod had asked his speech teacher, Mrs. Sauers, if he could try to rhetorically persuade Angie to go out with him. This teacher, 33 years later, still tickled by the idea, recalls it as one of the most memorable of speeches.

So, what could be so attractive about this young woman who later became a successful CPA? To begin, Angie hailed from a firmly grounded Catholic family with both parents attending Delone Catholic. Gladys (Storm) Smith graduated in 1949, although Raymond only went the first week, according to Angie. Her siblings all attended DCHS as well: Regina McMaster '70, Raymond “Sonny” Smith '71, Margaret “Midge” Leonhardt '73, Daniel Smith '74, and Michael Smith ’80.

Angie graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BSBA in accounting from John L. Grove College of Business, Shippensburg University in 1997, and earned a 4.0 Graduate Certificate in accounting in 2018 from Pennsylvania State University. A seasoned financial executive with over 20 years of experience in financial management, strategic planning, and executive leadership, Angie is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) known for driving organizational growth and profitability through data-driven decision-making, process optimization, and effective leadership. She is skilled in partnering with the CEO and board of directors to develop and execute long-term business strategies.

Her experiences include Graphcom, Inc., Director of Finance (May 2022-Current); Elsner Engineering Works, Inc., CFO (December 2019 – May 2022); Stambaugh Ness, Inc., Auditor (June 2018-December 2019); and Small Business Specialist (November 2015- June 2018). She was also Owner/Operator of Bike Rite USA, Inc. (May 2002–December 2009). Other roles include Financial Analyst I and II at Snyder’s of Hanover (June 1999-April 2002) and Cost Accountant at Knouse Foods (May 1997-January 1999).

Angie recently started her own business venture, Coastal Clarity Advisory, LLC, doing Fractional CFO and Board advisory services. This new company has been established as a sister company alongside her daughter’s business, Coastal Clarity Marketing LLC, which just celebrated its one-year anniversary!

Jarrod is Chief Financial Officer at Conewago Enterprises, Inc., where he has worked for nearly seven years. Previously, he served as General Manager at Fairlawn Tool, Inc. and CFO at Leonhardt Mfg. Co. Inc. He is also the Owner of The Computer Solutions Group, LLC, which he founded over 25 years ago. Jarrod still provides web hosting and website design services with a friend he met at Shippensburg, serving clients across the United States. Jarrod earned his BSBA in Accounting with Angie.

With all this financial acumen, they started a blog together called Dollar$ and Sense – Insights from a CFO Power Couple. Angie explained, “We saw so many of the same issues in the companies we worked with. We wanted to help others with similar concerns. We have fun with it too, which is why I think people follow it.”

So, what do they do for fun? Angie and Jarrod love any activity near the water, whether it's boating or fishing, especially by the beach or bay in Ocean City, Md., where Jarrod proposed! (Most recently, they took an amazing trip to St.Thomas while collecting information for this E-Squire article.) “Jarrod’s work has allowed us to travel all over the US, Canada, and the Caribbean — my favorite has been Grand Cayman Island,” Angie said.

When Angie talks about her early DCHS days, she enthusiastically describes herself as “a nerd. . . Mr. Sagedy’s calculus class and Mrs. Tompkins’ geometry class were my favorites, and I also enjoyed Mrs. Sauers’s classes, especially journaling,” she said. Her favorite memories of DCHS include time spent in the cafeteria just hanging out during study halls and lunches with classmates. She and Jarrod maintain friendships with many of them, “we just don’t see them very often!” she admits.

Angie has a fondness for her drama experiences around “Sally Go Forth,” their senior play, but Friday Night Lights is high on the list— and only sweeter now that son Dylan '28 plays varsity football! During retreats, the letters that friends and family wrote are still quite valued. “I vividly remember sitting in the kitchen and telling my mom all about that retreat!” she recalls. And, of course, basketball and field hockey games round out the treasured experiences.

Angie speaks of her faith as getting her through the death of her parents within seven weeks of each other. “Only by God’s Grace was I able to survive that loss,” she said. “My family, especially Jarrod and our kids, allowed me to overcome many obstacles. They keep me striving to be better each day.”

​“What from Delone did I carry forth? Tradition doesn’t graduate – it’s that commitment to excellence that continues! Now I want to give back, which is why I will be helping with the revitalized Department of Business and Entrepreneurship at Delone,” Angie concluded.

The Delone Catholic legacy of the Klunk family continues with their children: Derek '16, Deanna '20, and Dylan ’28. “They are all so different, it’s hard to imagine that they came from the same two people! Each one of them found Delone to be an environment that they could learn and thrive in, and for that I am forever grateful!”
