Squirehood
Squirehood is an intense period of formation after which one graduates to Knighthood, prepared to go into the world ready to engage in the defense of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness against those who challenge it with Falsehood and Evil. Our Squires will spend their time at Delone Catholic High School preparing to be holy and noble servant leaders.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. EPhesians 6: 13-17
Squires will learn how to prepare for eternal life.
Squires will learn what God has revealed to us about creation, about the inherent dignity of humans who have been created in the image and likeness of God, and about the way that God calls us to live.
Squires will learn how to live morally upright lives through the teachings of Christ, as handed down by the Church, with special emphasis on how to form a faithful conscience.
Squires will learn how to respond to God’s grace and be purified of selfish interests, and to follow Christ’s path, serving others to make the world a more peaceful place.
Squires will deepen their relationship with God, strive to grow in virtue, and be strengthened by the Holy Spirit to carry their crosses and overcome the challenges of evil.
Squires will contemplate the Word of God in Scripture through which God inspires the wisdom to live in a morally upright manner and aids their response when the world challenges the Truth.
