Updated

Delone Catholic High School is pleased to highlight the Rev. Dwight D. Schlaline '00, a dedicated pastoral leader and alumnus who brings a deep spiritual vision to the Delone Catholic Board of Directors. Joining the board in 2021, Father Schlaline serves as a pastoral member, ensuring that the school's mission remains firmly rooted in the Catholic faith as it navigates its next chapter.

Educational & Pastoral Background

A proud alumnus of Delone Catholic High School, Father Schlaline pursued his higher education with a focus on classical wisdom and sacred theology. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Languages and Philosophy from Franciscan University of Steubenville, followed by a Bachelor of Sacred Theology from Saint Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, Pa. Furthering his theological studies, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Spiritual Theology from the North American College in Rome, a background that deeply informs his ministry and leadership style.

Currently, Father Schlaline serves as the Pastor of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in Hanover, Pa. Throughout his priesthood, his ministerial focus has centered heavily on pastoring, college campus ministry, and Catholic education, including serving as the Executive Pastor of St. Teresa of Calcutta School.

Service and Leadership

Father Schlaline is a veteran of Catholic school governance and pastoral leadership. His experience on educational boards is extensive; prior to his work with Delone Catholic, he joined the School Board for St. Teresa of Calcutta School in 2021, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to nurturing the academic and spiritual growth of local youth.

At Delone Catholic, Father Schlaline draws on his dual perspective as an alumnus and experienced pastor to help discern the school's path forward. His involvement with his alma mater is deeply hands-on; in addition to his work on the Board of Directors, he has also served the school directly as Chaplain during the 2024-25 and 2025-26 academic years. His guidance is shaped by an eagerness to see the school thrive and a commitment to helping the institution navigate strategic decisions with pastoral care.

Vision for Delone Catholic

Father Schlaline’s service is driven by a desire to strengthen the spiritual life of the entire Delone Catholic community. In evaluating the challenges of the modern world, he identifies the greatest hurdle as the need to overcome spiritual lethargy. He believes that true excellence begins from within, noting that, like everyone, the board and the school community must continuously learn to give their lives over more fully to Jesus Christ—the way, the truth, and the life.

He remains deeply optimistic about Delone Catholic's future, viewing the board’s collective discernment as a vital tool for the school's success. By combining his theological expertise in spiritual theology with his firsthand experience as a Squire alumnus and Chaplain, Father Dwight Schlaline is helping to secure Delone Catholic’s legacy of preparing servant leaders who are deeply anchored in their faith.
