Updated

Sherry Jean Grenchik P'13, P'15, P'18, P'21, P'24 is a dedicated educator and community leader with deep roots in the Gettysburg area and the Catholic educational system. Bringing a wealth of experience as both a professional educator and a parent, she currently serves on the Board of Directors of Delone Catholic High School.

Educational Background

Grenchik holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (K-6) and Reading (K-12) from East Carolina University. Her academic training provided the foundation for a long and impactful career in the classroom.

Professional Experience

Now a retired teacher, Grenchik spent a significant portion of her career serving the community at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School in Gettysburg. Her tenure at a Delone Catholic partner school gives her a unique perspective on the educational pipeline and the developmental needs of students transitioning into high school.

Board Service and Leadership

Having joined the School Board in 2023, Grenchik chairs the Solidarity and Belonging committee and is actively involved in shaping Delone Catholic's future. She also serves as the Domain Chair for Catholic Identity within the school’s new strategic planning initiative, Timeless Excellence: Our Next Chapter. In this role, she collaborates with Campus Minister Kate Phenicie and Chaplain Rev. Dwight Schlaline '00 to ensure the school remains firmly grounded in its spiritual mission and core values.

Vision and Advocacy

Grenchik's service is driven by several key priorities:

  • Solidarity and Belonging | As a multi-cultural parent, she is a strong advocate for a school culture rooted in Catholic Social Teaching. She strives to ensure that every student, family, and faculty member feels valued, supported, and connected.
  • Alumni Engagement | Having seen five of her own children graduate from DCHS, Sherry is passionate about re-engaging the alumni community. She believes that under David Staub's current leadership, the school is well-positioned to strengthen these lifelong connections.
  • Strategic Growth | She views the Board as a collection of talented, dedicated individuals working thoughtfully to help DCHS thrive during a pivotal new chapter in its history.

Through her combination of pedagogical expertise and lived experience as a "Delone parent," Sherry Jean Grenchik remains a vital voice in maintaining the excellence and spiritual integrity of Catholic education in the region.
