Aubrey Nicole Dittmar '23 Places Fourth on Season 28 of NBC's The Voice
Updated

The Delone Catholic High School community has a new reason to beam with pride. Aubrey Nicole Dittmar '23 has captivated the nation, finishing in fourth place on Season 28 of NBC’s The Voice.

Throughout the season, Aubrey—a Littlestown native, St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School alumna, and current junior at Belmont University—proved to be a powerhouse of emotion and vocal technicality. Representing Team Reba, she navigated the competition as a "dark horse," eventually becoming Reba McEntire’s sole finalist and a favorite among viewers across the country.

Aubrey’s path to the finale was marked by several standout moments that resonated far beyond the television screen:

  • After her "blind audition" rendition of "Burning House," she quickly became a standout on Team Reba.
  • Aubrey faced off against teammate Cori Kennedy in the Battle round, with a high-octane performance of "Somethin' Bad" by Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood. Although Reba initially named Cori the winner, she immediately used her "Save" to keep Aubrey in the competition, while Coach Snoop Dogg also attempted a "Steal." Ultimately, Aubrey’s loyalty remained with Reba.
  • In the Knockout rounds, her performance of "I’m Gonna Love You Through It" served as a moving tribute to her father’s battle with cancer, bringing Coach Reba McEntire to tears and gaining national viral attention.
  • In the Playoffs, Aubrey delivered a smoky, high-energy rendition of Alannah Myles’ "Black Velvet." Reba praised her for having the "attitude" and "stage appeal" to be a superstar.
  • During the two-part live finale, Aubrey showcased the range that made her a fan favorite. On the first night, she performed two distinct covers that highlighted her versatility. "'Til You Can't." She poured her heart into this Cody Johnson anthem, using the performance to encourage others to chase their dreams—just as she has throughout the competition. In a "full circle" moment, Aubrey performed the country classic, "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia," which was famously covered by Reba herself. Dressed in all red, Aubrey earned a standing ovation from her coach, who told her she "knocked it out of the ballpark."
  • The excitement culminated in the results episode, where Aubrey shared the stage with her mentor for a beautiful holiday duet. The pair performed "Mary, Did You Know?"—a song Aubrey noted was one of her all-time favorite Christmas carols. The performance highlighted their shared country roots and the deep bond they formed over the season.

While millions of viewers now know her name, the Squires community remembers Aubrey as a dedicated student-artist and performer. During her four years at Delone Catholic, she was a fixture of school life, performing at school Masses, concerts, and theatre productions.

On Monday, Dec. 15, the Delone Catholic family gathered in the very Delone Gym where she used to perform for a community watch party to cheer on their fellow alum. The energy was electric as faculty, students, and alumni watched one of their own take the stage for the live finale.

Though the competition has concluded, Aubrey’s career is only beginning. She is currently continuing her studies in songwriting at Belmont University in Nashville. On Dec. 27, she headlined a live concert at the Eichberger Performing Arts Center in Hanover, Pa., with a powerful performance that drew a standing ovation. The same day, her first single, "One Lane," debuted on streaming platforms.

Throughout the season, Aubrey has shared her faith with fans. In a recent Facebook post, she wrote:

"I owe every ounce of my being chosen by @reba to be a finalist on @nbcthevoice to God. Thank you Lord for this opportunity, I couldn’t be more shocked, grateful, and humbled."

She also shared a beautiful rendition of "How Great Thou Art," sung in her home parish, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart

We congratulate Aubrey on this incredible achievement and look forward to following her rising star in the music industry. Once a Squire, always a Squire!
