English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies Induct New Members into Honor Societies
Updated

On Sunday, Oct. 26, four Delone Catholic honor societies held a joint induction ceremony in the cafeteria for new members. Erica (Carbaugh) Kaehler '10, a pharmacy manager at Kennie's in Littlestown, gave the keynote address. Kaehler concluded up her motivational speech with a quote from St. Bernard of Clairvaux, a doctor of the Church.

Some seek knowledge for the sake of knowledge: that is curiosity. Others seek knowledge that they themselves be known: that is vanity. But there are still others who seek knowledge in order to serve and edify others, and that is charity.

The 20 new SNHS members include Jackson Arigo '26, Brooklyn Clabaugh '27, Andre Dang '26, Owen Darlington '26, Taylor Dettinburn '26, Grace Hewitt '26, Carli Hutchinson '27, Olivia Knox '26, Maria Marchak '27, Julia Miller '26, Ivy Nieves '26, London Nieves '27, Jocelyn Robinson '26, Lilian Shanabrook '27, Ella Smith '26, Baileigh Stetter '27, Micah Ryleigh Stoutter '27, Allison Sullivan '27, Aiden Tringali '27, and Noah Walter '27.

The Science National Honor Society is a prominent scientific organization that engenders young thinkers who will be the future of industry, research, and scientific exploration for America. Participation encourages leadership and service, and supports a student's academic achievements in the sciences. A chapter membership in the Science National Honor Society benefits students and schools by promoting academic excellence, fostering a sense of community, enhancing science education, and positively impacting students through recognition, networking opportunities, skill development, and avenues for community service.

The Delone Catholic Chapter of the National English Honor Society (NEHS) inducted 18 new members.

Individual high schools are invited to petition for a local chapter, through which individuals may be inducted into Society membership. Immediate benefits of affiliation will be national recognition, scholarship eligibility, and opportunities for national networking with others who share enthusiasm for, and accomplishment in, the language arts. Eventually, NEHS will hold conferences and provide ways to link NEHS with other honor societies and with organizations related to the field of English.
