Mr. John Fournie Wins Educator of the Year Award
Updated

At the 2023 Hanover Chamber of Commerce Business Awards reception held on Nov. 7 at Bay City Restaurant in Hanover, Pa., Mr. John Fournie received the esteemed Educator of the Year Award for Delone Catholic High School.

During the ceremony, Principal William Lippe aptly compared Mr. Fournie's contributions at Delone Catholic to that of a utility player on a baseball team, who wears many hats and plays many roles. Mr. Fournie is a versatile team player who has spent the last seven years teaching AP government, creative writing, and journalism. He is also the school librarian, yearbook advisor, social studies department chair, and online learning coordinator.

Mr. Fournie earned a BA in English and History from Marquette University, an M.Ed. from the University of Notre Dame as part of the Alliance for Catholic Education service program, and an MFA in Fiction Writing from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Whether he is leading a discussion about the Federalist Papers, editing photos for yearbook spreads, or teaching the art of creative writing and poetry, Mr. Fournie has a way of tying all these varying roles together for the benefit of his students' learning, creativity, and expressionism.

God has truly blessed Delone Catholic High School with Mr. Fournie's gifts. Our entire family congratulates him on this outstanding achievement!
